Controller – South Shore, MA

Experienced Automotive Controller needed for a well-established, family-owned dealership on the South Shore of Massachusetts. This is a great long-term opportunity with a stable organization with a positive reputation in the community. This position is available due to the transition of the current long-term Controller into a new role with the company. This is a hands-on role and the Controller hired will oversee a team of 2 people in the accounting office. Must be well-versed in all areas of dealership accounting and able to own the month end close process.

The Controller hired will report directly to the Dealer Principal and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of all dealership accounting operations. A dedicated HR professional is already in place, allowing this role to remain focused on accounting and financial management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all dealership accounting operations
• Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and complete month-end close
• Manage, train, mentor, and cross-train the accounting staff
• Audit accounting processes and maintain strong internal controls
• Assist with and provide coverage for all accounting office positions as needed
• Ensure schedules, reconciliations, and financial reporting are completed accurately and on time
• Work directly with the Dealer Principal on financial reporting and operational performance
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and leverage Excel and technology to increase efficiency
• Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment

Qualifications

• Prior experience as an Automotive Controller, Comptroller, or Office Manager in a new car dealership
• Strong understanding of all areas of dealership accounting
• Experience preparing monthly financial statements
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and trustworthiness
• Hands-on management style with the ability to lead by example
• Experience on dealership DMS systems and Excel skills
• Experience utilizing technology to streamline accounting processes are highly preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• $110,000 – $120,000 (commensurate with experience)
